![]() ![]() There's a difference between realism, and having a game that simulates things to gameplay extent in the developer's eyes. Tiger 2's engines would take ages to start up and the tracks would be impossible to repair in the battle. If they added dud torpedos, limited batteries, and the such then the same logic would say that Tigers and Panthers should start breaking down all the time and the chance of your tank going forward towards the enemy (because of crew morale) would be very low. Therefore in a sub you must do hit-and-run tactics, or in this case hit-and-hide. Also, since this game is mostly about realism the submariner would have to worry about dud torpedos, limited batteries, and slow speeds underwater, (unless in XXI U-boat since they went faster than any other sub in WW2, submerged) since once a sub has fired a torpedo at an enemy ship that sub is very easy to find. ![]() Originally posted by MungrohiikdoZoor:War Thunder is all about realism, therefore they would most likely have to add submarines since they played a HUGE role in WW2, for example the U-boats nearly starved Britian by sinking enemy merchant ships, they also made it into the Gulf of Mexico and sunk American merchant ships in dock. I'd have to say I'd have no interest in ship battles in War Thunder if they did the same. World of warships already said they would not be adding subs and for that reason I will NEVER play that game. Yes I know, some people will say if I want that go play battelstations, but I honestly feel that this game would "miss the boat" if they left these variables out and it would be just another grind/shoot fest. The fear and trepidation of getting pinged and hunted by destroyers or planes with depth charges as well as the wariness of a ship looking for torpedo wakes from an unscouted sector. I just really think sub warfare mixed with the ships would add a completely awesome edge to this game. Very boring.ĭon't allow subs to capture points unless they were surfaced. Otherwise this game would literally just be boats throwing stones at eachother cruising around randonly or piling into capture points. Subs would create a need to maintian a convoy structure with destroyer and scout plane escorts. ![]() Subs would need to surface to achieve top speeds, fire their deck guns, and refill their air. Sonar and acoustic hunting would be an amazingly fun minigame for both subs and sub hunters alike. that's what planes and destroyers (and some cruisers) are for in that case. Yes, subs are tough to find and a battleship can't do much against one. Here are a few points about subs and balance that I can think of: If anyone has played the Battlestations series they know what I mean. WWII naval warfare was often a balanced rock-paper-scissors match (ships/planes/subs). In my opinion, if they left them out then warships would be boring and pointless, essentially it would just be boats throwing and skimming rocks at eachother with some planes flying around. I've read a lot of various feedback about whether or not there would be submarines as a playable vehicle type when the warships update happens. ![]()
